- Viakable’s Technology and Research Center (CETIV) has generated 28 patents, expanded specialized laboratory capabilities, and advanced projects focused on electrification, energy transmission, and next-generation materials.
Monterrey, Nuevo León, México, June 3, 2026 — Viakable, a XIGNUX company and a leading manufacturer and supplier of electrical conductors, today celebrated the 15th anniversary of its Technology and Research Center (CETIV), a facility dedicated to applied research, new product development, and the validation of advanced technologies.
Located within the Research and Innovation Technology Park (PIIT) in Apodaca, Nuevo León, CETIV spans 2,800 square meters and is home to a team of 35 Mexican scientists and technologists developing solutions that strengthen the competitiveness of the energy industry and support technological advancement in México.
With 28 granted patents and seven additional patent applications currently under review, CETIV serves as a cornerstone of Viakable’s applied research and innovation capabilities for the electrical cable industry, supporting transmission, distribution, industrial, and construction applications.
In 2025, Viakable invested MXN 22.5 million in the modernization of its laboratories and research facilities, incorporating specialized equipment for the analysis and development of advanced materials.
Additionally, between 2022 and 2024, the company invested approximately MXN 70 million in a specialized laboratory for mechanical and electrical testing of medium-, high-, and extra-high-voltage conductors in San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León. The 2,800-square-meter facility further enhances the company’s research, development, and technology validation capabilities.
These facilities enable the simulation of real-world operating conditions and strengthen validation and certification processes for energy infrastructure applications.
Together, these investments position CETIV among the most significant research platforms in Latin America within the wire and cable industry.
Among the center’s most recent innovations are environmentally friendly compounds for low- and medium-voltage electrical cables, advanced coatings that improve electrical transmission performance, solutions that facilitate cable installation, and artificial intelligence applications focused on the design of specialized materials.
Viakable also promotes an open innovation model through collaboration with startups and research institutions to address challenges related to electrification, growing energy demand, data centers, and electric mobility.
This innovation ecosystem includes partnerships with institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL), Tecnológico de Monterrey, and the National Autonomous University of México (UNAM).
“At Viakable, we recognize that applied innovation is essential to addressing the challenges facing today’s energy infrastructure. Through CETIV, we develop technological solutions that strengthen our competitiveness and reinforce our position as a trusted strategic partner for customers across México and North America,” said Carlos Ramos Espinosa, Chief Executive Officer of Viakable.
XIGNUX highlighted that its sustained investment in science, technology, and innovation has strengthened regional research and development capabilities, contributing to the advancement of the electrical industry across North America.
