Monterrey, Nuevo León, September 28, 2026 — XIGNUX, a leading Mexican company operating in the energy and food industries, is marking 70 years in business. Its history has been shaped by growth, diversification, a long-term vision, the trust of its customers, and the talent of generations of employees.
XIGNUX’s story began on September 29, 1956, with the founding of Conductores Monterrey, now Viakable. With 15 employees and seven machines, the company began manufacturing electrical conductors at a pivotal time in Mexico’s industrial development and electrification.
Since then, XIGNUX has expanded its capabilities, added new businesses, and entered new markets. Today, it operates in the energy and food industries through Viakable, Qualtia, and BYDSA. XIGNUX employs more than 23,000 people—whom it calls energizers—operates in Mexico, the United States, and Venezuela, and has a commercial presence in 12 countries.
The products and solutions offered by XIGNUX companies play a part in everyday life. Viakable’s electrical conductors help power homes, buildings, hospitals, hotels, airports, transportation systems, data centers, industrial facilities, and energy generation and transmission projects. Qualtia’s food products and BYDSA’s snacks reach homes, restaurants, hotels, cafeterias, and other gathering places, becoming part of millions of everyday moments.
“Celebrating 70 years gives us an opportunity to express our gratitude. We would not be where we are today without our customers’ trust or the talent, dedication, and capabilities of our employees. This milestone honors those who began our story and everyone who has helped it grow, generation after generation. We are committed to earning that trust, pursuing excellence, and continuing to create value for society with a long-term vision,” said Juan Ignacio Garza Herrera, CEO of XIGNUX.
The anniversary marks the start of a new chapter for XIGNUX, as the company focuses on expanding its operating capabilities, advancing innovation, and pursuing growth opportunities across the industries in which it operates.
Over the past eight years, XIGNUX has invested more than $1 billion in its energy and food businesses in Mexico and the United States. In the past year alone, 60% of its investment went toward expansion projects.
The expansion and modernization of electrical infrastructure present a strategic opportunity for Mexico and the United States. Demand is being driven by economic growth as well as digitalization, data center development, artificial intelligence, and the electrification of new industrial processes.
“We are seeing significant change in the energy industry. Mexico and the United States have a substantial opportunity to drive economic growth, and XIGNUX has the experience, talent, and capabilities to support that progress,” Garza Herrera said.
XIGNUX participates in the electrical industry through Viakable, which manufactures and markets electrical conductors that help power homes, businesses, and communities. Viakable is a market leader in Mexico, ranks third in its industry in North America, and seventh worldwide.
In the food industry, Qualtia offers a broad portfolio of deli meats, cheeses, and proteins. Its best-known brands include Zwan, Kir, and Caperucita, as well as Peperami, a leader in the meat snack category. Qualtia also has a strong position in the premium protein segment through Carnes XO.
BYDSA is one of the leading companies in Mexico’s salty snack market. Its products reach millions of consumers and bring people together for countless occasions.
Over the past seven decades, XIGNUX has also supported initiatives that promote employee development and community well-being. These include Fundación XIGNUX, which focuses on energy, nutrition, education, and community development, and the Instituto de Formación Integral XIGNUX (IFIX), which provides educational experiences for employees, their families, and the broader community.
The anniversary also recognizes the suppliers, partners, institutions, and communities that have been part of XIGNUX’s journey. The company extends special thanks to its customers for their trust in its products, brands, and capabilities, and to its employees for making its continued growth possible.
As XIGNUX marks its 70th anniversary, it reaffirms its purpose: Energizing Lives and Creating Valuable Connections for Everyone, guided by its shared values: Be Worthy of Trust and Pursue Excellence.
