- Viakable, a XIGNUX company, will expand its manufacturing capabilities in Illinois, create quality jobs, and strengthen its presence in the United States and North America
LA SALLE, Illinois, United States — October 7, 2026 — Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Viakable—a XIGNUX company—today jointly announced a $55 million investment to expand Viakable’s manufacturing operation in La Salle, Illinois, United States.
The project represents a new phase of growth for Viakable in the United States and will bring the company’s total investment in its La Salle operation to more than $160 million since operations began in 2018.
The expansion will add more than 22,000 square feet of manufacturing space and approximately 75,000 square feet of warehouse space, along with new equipment and infrastructure to increase production capacity. The project will strengthen capabilities in key manufacturing processes, including wire drawing, cabling, extrusion, and packaging.
The investment is expected to significantly expand Viakable’s workforce in La Salle. Under its agreement with the State of Illinois through the Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) program, the company has committed to creating at least 50 new full-time jobs and retaining 65 existing full-time positions.
The expansion follows Governor Pritzker’s trade mission to Mexico in the spring of 2025, which focused on strengthening economic ties and fostering greater cooperation between Illinois and Mexico.
“I’m proud that Viakable is doubling down on their commitment to Illinois as a key partner in our economic vision and world-class manufacturing ecosystem,” said Governor JB Pritzker. “Investments like this are helping Illinois build an even stronger foundation for long-term, sustainable prosperity that is being felt in communities across the state”.
“This investment reflects our long-term commitment to La Salle, Illinois, and to the future of manufacturing in North America. By strengthening our operation here, we will be better positioned to serve our customers, create quality jobs, and expand our capabilities in the United States,” said Juan Ignacio Garza Herrera, CEO of XIGNUX.
Viakable began operations in La Salle in 2018, establishing its first manufacturing operation in the United States. Since then, the facility has expanded its capabilities to meet customer demand and support the company’s growth across North America.
The new investment is part of Viakable’s strategy to increase production capacity, operate closer to its customers, create quality jobs, and contribute to stronger and more resilient North American supply chains. Once the expansion is complete, the La Salle operation is expected to significantly increase its manufacturing capacity for the U.S. electrical infrastructure market.
“Over the past eight years, the La Salle team has expanded its capabilities and demonstrated its commitment to our customers. This project will increase our manufacturing capacity and enable us to continue delivering reliable solutions for energy infrastructure in the United States and North America,” said Carlos Ramos Espinosa, CEO of Viakable.
The State of Illinois is supporting the expansion through its Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) program, which provides incentives to companies making investments and creating jobs in the state.
“By expanding in La Salle, Viakable is bringing more production to Illinois, creating new opportunities for workers, and reinforcing the region’s role in our state’s manufacturing economy,” said Kristin Richards, Director of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO). “Through our EDGE program, DCEO is proud to support investments like this that grow businesses, create jobs, and position Illinois for continued long-term economic growth.”
The investment is aligned with the State of Illinois’ Economic Growth Plan, which identifies advanced manufacturing as one of its key growth industries. Illinois’ infrastructure, skilled workforce, access to supply chains, and manufacturing ecosystem support companies seeking to establish and expand operations in the state.
The announcement also coincides with the 70th anniversary of XIGNUX and Viakable, whose history began in Monterrey, Mexico, in 1956 with the founding of Conductores Monterrey, now Viakable. Over seven decades, the company has expanded its capabilities and geographic reach, with its La Salle operation becoming an important part of Viakable’s manufacturing strategy in North America.
