Rómulo Garza Award 2026 Recognizes High-Impact Science

In partnership with Tecnológico de Monterrey, the 2026 Rómulo Garza Research and Innovation Award was presented to recognize the talent and scientific contributions of Tec researchers, faculty members, and students.

During the ceremony, Eugenio Garza Herrera, Chairman of the Board of Xignux and grandson of Don Rómulo Garza, highlighted the contributions of the award recipients for developing solutions to challenges that are relevant to society.

“Recognizing scientific advances increases the possibility of a better future for everyone,” he stated.

This year’s edition recognized researchers and students in the following categories:

  • Insignia Award. Presented to Dr. Raúl Monroy Borja for his 40-year career, more than 120 indexed publications, and his contributions to digital security and talent development.
  • Scientific Articles. Awarded to the team composed of Viridiana Alejandra Tejada Ortigoza, Enrique Cuan Urquizo, Rubén Maldonado Rosas, and Mariana Morales de la Peña for their research on the 3D printing of nutritious foods using complex formulations.
  • Entrepreneurship. Awarded to the Maedditiva project, focused on the production of 3D-printed anatomical models for medical and dental applications.
  • Graduate Studies. Presented to Dr. Carlos Fernández Ceballos González for his research on 3D-printed cancer models for treatment evaluation.
  • Undergraduate Studies. Awarded to Ximena Herrera Medina for her project on human detection and route planning in autonomous robots.
  • High School. Presented to Hans Enrique Velarde Barrón for his project aimed at improving the efficiency and durability of wind energy systems.


Through this recognition, Xignux reaffirms its commitment to research, innovation, and the development of solutions that generate a positive impact on society.
