Monterrey, Nuevo León, June 4, 2025.- Xignux, a leading company in the energy and food sectors, released its 2024 Sustainability Report, highlighting key progress, challenges, and achievements across environmental, social, and governance (ESG) pillars. The report reaffirms the company’s commitment to responsible management aligned with sustainable development.
The document outlines the accomplishments driven by the Xignux Social Responsibility and Sustainable Development Model, which guides the group’s efforts across all its businesses.
In 2024, the company’s total energy consumption—covering fuels and electricity—reached 4 million GJ (one GJ equals one billion joules, the international unit of energy, work, or heat), with a notable increase in electricity sourced from renewables.
Water efficiency, one of the company’s key focus areas, also saw significant improvement. Xignux reused 49,118 m³ of water—the equivalent of filling nearly 20 Olympic-size swimming pools or supplying water to approximately 250 average households for a year. This marks a strong improvement over the 19,821 m³ reused in 2023 and reflects enhanced internal efficiency standards.
In waste management, Xignux recovered and repurposed 79% of its non-hazardous waste, a meaningful advancement in its environmental performance.
On the social front, the company doubled the direct impact of its community programs, reaching over 124,000 people and indirectly benefiting more than 250,000. Furthermore, employees volunteered over 22,000 hours in social and environmental initiatives, with one-third of the workforce actively participating.
As part of its conservation efforts, Xignux planted 13,863 native trees in the regions where it operates.
