Monterrey, Nuevo León, June 18, 2025. Fundación Xignux is marking 15 years of driving social initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a strong focus on clean energy access, environmental care, nutrition, education, and community development.
Since its founding in 2010, Fundación Xignux has developed an average of 80 projects per year in collaboration with more than 70 organizations from the social, governmental, business, and academic sectors. These partnerships have directly impacted more than 700,000 people across Nuevo León.
“Celebrating 15 years of Fundación Xignux means honoring the power of cross-sector collaboration and the resilience of communities. There’s no energy more fulfilling or transformative than the joy of helping others—and growing through that process,” said Marcela Garza Herrera, President of Fundación Xignux.
As a second-tier nonprofit, Fundación Xignux has worked with a wide range of institutions, including:
- Firefighters and the Red Cross, through donations that enhance emergency response and rescue services.
- Mujer en Plenitud, Fundación Promover, and Zihuame Mochilla, to promote programs that foster social cohesion and collective well-being.
- Iluméxico, on initiatives that expand access to clean energy and promote community empowerment.
- Tecnológico de Monterrey, UANL, UDEM, U-ERRE, and Tecmilenio, through training programs and challenges that empower students to address social and sustainability issues such as air quality, energy, and nutrition.
- Comenzar de Nuevo, the Mexican Diabetes Association, and Comedor de los Pobres, supporting efforts to combat malnutrition and promote holistic health.
- Ingenium, Humind, and AtentaMente, to advance education and mental health prevention programs.
One of its flagship initiatives, Energía para Todos (Energy for All), has brought safe and clean electricity to over 400 people in 33 rural communities in Linares, Montemorelos, China, Doctor Arroyo, General Zuazua, and Monterrey. This has been made possible through the installation of solar photovoltaic systems and ongoing technical and social support that fosters community ownership, energy efficiency, and environmental stewardship.
Another key initiative, Nutrición para el Desarrollo (Nutrition for Development), focuses on improving nutrition and healthy habits among vulnerable children.
Through this milestone celebration, Fundación Xignux renews its long-term commitment to social and environmental sustainability.
