Luke Shweng, Commercial Director of Power Transformers, represented Prolec GE Waukesha in a crucial session with the United States International Trade Commission (USITC).
In collaboration with other U.S. suppliers, Luke advocated for the review of an order enforcing tariffs on large power transformers (over 60 MVA) imported from Korea. This measure is vital to safeguarding transformer manufacturing in the United States.
The order allows the USITC to impose anti-dumping tariffs to ensure fair pricing and safeguard U.S. manufacturers. Being in effect since 2012 and renewed every five years, its continuation is crucial to prevent the return of unfair practices.
Luke’s participation in the hearing aimed to defend this order. The USITC commissioners will make a final decision in August, and we are confident they will uphold the order.
We remain committed to contributing to the implementation of best practices in the industry.
