The project will strengthen capabilities in key manufacturing processes, including wire drawing, cabling, extrusion, and packaging.

The investment is expected to significantly expand Viakable’s workforce in La Salle. Under its agreement with the State of Illinois through the Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) program, the company has committed to creating at least 50 new full-time jobs and retaining 65 existing full-time positions.

The expansion follows Governor Pritzker’s trade mission to Mexico in the spring of 2025, which focused on strengthening economic ties and fostering greater cooperation between Illinois and Mexico.

“I’m proud that Viakable is doubling down on their commitment to Illinois as a key partner in our economic vision and world-class manufacturing ecosystem,” said Governor JB Pritzker. “Investments like this are helping Illinois build an even stronger foundation for long-term, sustainable prosperity that is being felt in communities across the state”.

“This investment reflects our long-term commitment to La Salle, Illinois, and to the future of manufacturing in North America. By strengthening our operation here, we will be better positioned to serve our customers, create quality jobs, and expand our capabilities in the United States,” said Juan Ignacio Garza Herrera, CEO of XIGNUX.

Viakable began operations in La Salle in 2018, establishing its first manufacturing operation in the United States. Since then, the facility has expanded its capabilities to meet customer demand and support the company’s growth across North America.

The new investment is part of Viakable’s strategy to increase production capacity, operate closer to its customers, create quality jobs, and contribute to stronger and more resilient North American supply chains. Once the expansion is complete, the La Salle operation is expected to significantly increase its manufacturing capacity for the U.S. electrical infrastructure market.

“Over the past eight years, the La Salle team has expanded its capabilities and demonstrated its commitment to our customers.
